games website "Brave ambition" detailed evaluation: the heart is willing but the power is insufficient

    Merida in movies and games

Brave and ambitious: big bear, big bow, big knife

Could this be the villain we've all been waiting for?

Compared to the average game adapted from a Hollywood summer blockbuster, Brave stands out and is weird. It is, as you would expect, a 3D action RPG with a strong focus on combat.

The vision is very Diablo like, but at times it feels like Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light meets the adolescent God of War.

Surprisingly, you will find this game more effective, more enjoyable, and close to a wonderful game for all ages than the examples above. Why do I say "close"? I'll explain later.

We suggest looking for a gun version of the movie first. Because the first few minutes of the game reveal a lot of important plot in the movie.

Brave Tales, in the vaguest of terms, is the story of Merida, a lively and young princess. The story takes place in the magical kingdom of Scotland, where the beautiful landscape is cursed by an evil force named Mordu.

It's our princess's job to clean that stain up. It takes you through eight levels, battling tree monsters, golems, burning boars, and very vicious crows, all while jumping from one rocky cliff to another.

    The fighting system is ambitious

Did the wild monster eat too much gold today?

In the fighting system, Princess Merida has two good weapons, a trusty sword and a dear bow and arrow, but to make the game more interesting Brave borrows a few things from other games.

In the first few levels you can collect 4 elemental amulets that will cast corresponding magic on your bow and sword. The amulets can be selected from among them with the bumper button (L1, L2), and different amulets are suitable for different monsters.

For example, if you attack with fire, those heavy tree monsters will fall down immediately. If you attack with the destructive power of the wind, the golem will be vulnerable to you. If that's not enough, these elemental amulets can also affect the environment of the game, a piece of ice or a leaf can make it a breeze.

On top of this, the game also has a more skillful upgrade system. Not only will you find excellent bows and swords on your journey, but you'll also get a lot of valuable things from the destructible environment and monsters. The direction stone also unlocks more skills for you.

You start out with simple, rough attacks, but as you level up, you're able to unleash a time-limited Super attack mode and some special elemental attacks if you power up the gauge like a fighting game and hit enough monsters.

    Fighting monsters takes skill

Killing this old crow takes some skill

In practice, the fighting and action system is obviously very clever. The camera Angle gives you a bad sense of direction and distance, but you're okay if you fall, because the last checkpoint was close and you lost very little blood. And "Brave" has a lot of tough fights, too, and while you may seem like you're living beyond your means at first, you get the hang of it later on.

Here are some tips: 1. As I said before, you have to apply the right element to the opposite element (fire versus wood) monster; b: With power up the gauge and Special attacks, you can easily challenge enemies. c: You can use the right rocker to make the bow shoot more arrows, the double arrow killer Merida!

It is also worth mentioning that the tutorial is cleverly designed in the game, which is well integrated into the game.

    "Ambition" final verdict

If you're still feeling drab, Brave also offers the chance to beat up a bunch of enemies, solve puzzles with some nature buddies, and incorporate a certain element of adventure in order to overcome obstacles.

    The "grand" journey?

Brave Ambition game landing and loading page

No one would call Brave a masterpiece. Although the scenery is beautiful, the graphic design is still lacking in bright spots and dexterity, especially the Wii version is really unable to stand out in other Wii games suitable for all ages.

The story of the game is also like the graphic design can not withstand scrutiny, there is not much bright spot. The game relies on children's picture books to introduce the story, which makes it a bit old-fashioned in today's innovation-driven gaming market.

You can almost guess what the outcome will be by the end, and as you watched the cartoon, we couldn't help but wonder if Pixar had run out of innovation without Steve Jobs.

Yes, this is the legendary character ----Will O 'The wisp (how did I remember the Elder Scrolls IV with such a monster?).

But as we said before, the game is still fun. If you don't think single player is fun. The game also offers a cooperative mode. the second person Will be Will O 'The wisp, a little ghost fire who acts as Princess Merida's sidekick and fights the enemy alongside her.

This model allows brothers and sisters, good friends, parents and children to cooperate and enjoy a happy journey together. This game also has unlockable clothing and various collectibles, and the difficulty rises very smoothly. The game doesn't seem too strenuous.

And if you think there are any flaws in the game's graphics, you'll have a pleasing feeling when you hear the melodious soundtrack and Kelly MacDonald, Merida's voice in the animated film.

Our lovely voice actors are playing this game

However, as far as I know, this game is too short to finish. You need five and a half hours to finish the game, and the difficulty factor doesn't push that time up much. Of course, this game must have some value to play it again and again, there are a lot of collectibles that you need to find carefully, which shows how many collectibles you find in the game.

But we really want the game to take the elements of the movie as far as possible, even beyond the shortcomings of the movie, to give us a perfect fairy tale.

Some people might think that if you play the archery mini-games available on Xbox Kinect or Wii, there's extra value. But whether you shoot your target within a time limit or before it reaches a certain point, these minigames can feel a little perfunctory, and from what I've heard, they're not particularly effective with the Xbox Kinect.

That's a shame, because Brave and Ambitious is a good family game anyway, not as good as the likes of Mario, Zelda, and Lego Batman, but much more polished than the games of Wall-E and Shrek. It's a nice souvenir for young people who love cartoons, but the potential of this game is actually huge.

It's so hot, I hope I can roast this bird to death!

    Final decision

Too bad it wasn't you, Bold and Ambitious! It's certainly much better than your average family film adaptation, taking inspiration from a different genre to shape an action adventure played by an affable heroine. But unfortunately, the clearance time is short and the picture to be repaired is still very disappointing. People who like this cartoon can go and play it, although the game is not as big as its potential.
