games website King Arthur 2: Army of the Dead review: An RPG/RTS hybrid attempt

In this generation, King Arthur is no longer a brave ruler, but a disabled king trying to save a shattered continent in a new drama. In the new game, you can command larger armies against more powerful enemies in larger battles, as well as boss battles that have never been seen before, and many more unique and terrifying enemies. Added a new wide range of perspective controls, reworked animations, give players an unparalleled gaming experience.

The name "King Arthur" appears in the History of the Bullingdon, written by a Welsh friar around 800, which is mainly about Arthur leading the Welsh to resist the invading Saxons around 500. England was in the Middle Ages at the time, and the game's story was set during this period.

In ancient times, Britain was divided into three main parts -- England, Scotland and Wales. And that continent was the British Isles in what is now the United Kingdom, The United Kingdom's current full name, "The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland", refers to the continent in the game, and is also the area where the game's story takes place. It's also where players need to be unified.

King Arthur's main role was to set the stage for a feudal dynasty in the Middle Ages of British history, the Anglo-Saxon period of British history when Roman rule was already in the past. Army of the Dead tells the story of the resurrection and revenge of the dead, and the rise of King Arthur's greatest enemy. As the once and future king lay dying of his wounds in the south, the fate of the Romans lay in the hands of the noble Septimus Sulla. Now is the time to uncover the secrets of Hadrian's Wall, take a journey into the underworld, and find the legendary souls of the Roman legions.

The game screen has a taste of "antique", the tone of the whole game is relatively brown, and the cut scene is dim and fuzzy, which has the meaning of revealing the dust of history. However, "King Arthur 2" is not a historical game, but a fantasy game, in which the two armies can cast magic while fighting. For example, when a lightning strike strikes the soldier, his chickens jump and his buttocks smoke. The screen can be zoomed in and out, and the player is using God's perspective. The dark mass seen from a great height, if looked at closely, was a mass of dead bodies. (And all dead bodies buried directly in the ground.)

The strategy interface uses RPG mode, where the player commands a small plastic action figure to move and strategify. Castles are like building blocks, mountains and rivers are like sand tables, and it really means that commanders work out strategies on the sand tables. In the battle interface, even in battle, a large number of troops are arranged in neat squares, absolutely obeying the command of the commander. The screen can be enlarged and reduced, and the screen can be scaled down to see all the squares, and the largest soldier can occupy the entire screen. The material performance of armor and weapons is only mediocre, the soldier's AI is not too low, and not every individual is fully synchronized when standing and attacking.

The soldiers' symbols are simple and clear, and it is very convenient to use symbols to identify the service when looking down. The shortcut keys are very convenient, and even beginners who have not played the previous game can quickly get on the ground. One word to choose -- quick! The speed of the game can be adjusted to suit the needs of different players in different situations, and King Arthur 2: Army of the Dead does this very well.

The opening animation is very chatty, a rich baritone begins to explain for a long time, ah, can't stand it, skip it with ESC, he will continue to explain, and finally ask: "Who are you?" Would you believe me if I said I was Doraemon? Unfortunately, there is no Doraemon option, and after boring questions and answers, the game can officially start. At the beginning of the game, the player can only choose the story mode, and at the beginning of the story mode, the player will receive a series of new guides, and can not skip. If it is an old player, it is more troublesome.

But as a strategy game, I have to say it's incredibly difficult. Even if you choose the highest difficulty to play the game, you can easily beat the computer. There is only one reason - the archers are so good that they seriously affect the balance. Although there are long shield soldiers that can arrange the turtle array and resist the arrows, under the powerful arrow rain attack, it is only a drizzle. You can shoot them all into hedgehogs before the incoming troops get close.

Because it is a fantasy game, naturally there are all kinds of fantasy creatures, but under the attack force of arrow rain, all are paper tigers. The dragon is coming! Shoot! There's a giant! Shoot! What's that with the horns? Shoot and kill! The dead, huh? Did you just shoot an army of the Roman dead? I'm sorry I didn't see that.

The game's mission system is roughly divided into two categories -- lethal and nonlethal. Expecting a meeting table of the Knights of the Round Table, they used a meeting room of the Romans. All kinds of strange quests can be borrowed on the big map, and the dark yellow scroll is hula open, and a quest comes. There is also a quest tree for players to see what quests have been completed and are being completed.

There are many places of interest in the game, but I don't understand why there is a triumphal arch standing in a wilderness as flat as a lake. The trees were also very good, growing in the east and in the west (even in places that looked very dense on the big map), and they left the army a beautiful planted lawn, and the trees, they called it "forest."

In general, "King Arthur 2: Army of the Dead" can not give even strategy veteran players too much surprise, in terms of strategy and tactics, the screen belongs to the antique standard, the sound and sound effects of the game are relatively ordinary. The only thing worth playing, I'm afraid, is the plot.

Overall feeling: 7.5      The difficulty is simple and easy to use.

Screen performance: 7.5  Antique style, coarse and fine.

Sound performance: 7      Excellent voice acting, mediocre sound.

Hands-on experience: 6.5    There is nothing more interesting to do than work on a task.

Playability: 6.5      The story is fascinating, but I really don't want to play it again.

Overall review: 7  An option for passing the time and fanatics of such games.
