games website "Street Graffiti HD" review: some sense of humor

Those of you who don't know Graffiti will probably know its developer, Sega. According to my investigation, people who have experienced the arcade era should not forget the LOGO that competes with SNK, Capcom and Namco, Sega.

Founded in 1965 after the merger of two divisions of the Coin-operated gaming company, the company remains an indelible mark in the history of the Japanese and world gaming industry, especially with the release of their first console, the SG-1000, in 1983.

In terms of my personal experience, when I was a kid in the US, I played console games all the time (I only started playing PC games when I came back to China), such as Tekken, Sonic and especially Mortal Kombat fights with my American friends. Left me a lot of good memories of my youth.

We were either using Sega's Mega Drive or Nintendo's FC, I can't remember. I used to think of Sega as a game company dominated by consoles, but I was surprised to find that a strong competitor like SONY's Playstation console forced Sega to become a pure game software company (a third party).

    Childhood memory

Then you must also have a basic understanding of Sega. So let's talk about the game we're reviewing today. Graffiti is the first sport I've ever played in this type of ACT. I've seen people play Tony Hawk skateboarding before (and that game is getting a makeover, too, in HD). Before I played this game, it was widely praised by the media as "music, graphic design, fun, humor, unique and personalized".

    I don't really see it

In Street Graffiti, you play as the main character Beat, the leader of the GG gang in the Shibuya-cho area and a prominent roller enthusiast.

Your mission is to defeat the competing gang members (in the form of a pulley race) and then capture Tokyo-To (presumably created based on Tokyo, Japan). To do this, when using the PS3 controller, you need to use the left joystick to control the direction of the sprinkler while using the L2 key to spray graffiti on buildings or parked cars, advertising your gang's distinctive logo (similar to putting a small advertisement on the street).

While doing this, the main character (you have different partners to choose from) has to dodge the police who are desperate to arrest you, and a very annoying guy named Captain Onishima who wants to kill you just because you're a little gangster.

The level requires the player to glide our protagonist over a fence in a set area, performing very basic platforming and tricks.

There is nothing wrong with these ideas conceptually, but the practical aspects are difficult.

My biggest complaint is that of all the game elements crammed into the game, none of them feel perfect or complete. Pulley feels like what it would be like if the Tony Hawk skateboarding series lost its meaning, especially if you were sliding on the fence with a joystick or something to control the balance, the whole game lost its sense of reality; The spray painting session wasn't that special, and it didn't make the game any more fun; And the worst part is the police.

As you add more graffiti to buildings and vehicles, it becomes harder and harder to hide from waves of police, who are aware of your location at any given time.

This is good because it increases the difficulty and keeps you on your toes, but as a game of this speed, if you have to spend 7-10 minutes trying to avoid the police, and you make the slightest mistake and have to go back to the beginning (yes, there are no checkpoints), you'll start banging your table and hating the game.

My most confused praise is that the story and humor of the game is so good, I didn't see it.

The Katamori series lives up to its name, mixing a ridiculous sense of humor with quirky, funny characters. "Graffiti" is a bit lacking, though. The story itself is hard to understand, the characters don't feel three-dimensional, there is no edge to speak of, and no amount of humor you can add to it can change the underlying situation.

But that doesn't mean the game's style is a complete failure. If you have a good configuration, the picture of this game looks very good, the 3D modeling cartoon rendering style is really bright, and the screen design is not like a makeover, but like a new game released in 2012.

Music in this game is also very prominent, to provide you with a tough style of electronic music, very suitable for the style of this game.

So, let me summarize briefly. "Graffiti on the Street" left a very bad impression on me. He did not bring a sense of achievement and progress in this 7-8 hours of customs clearance time, or in the same place, although compared with the original, changed the geographical location, set in a metropolis similar to Tokyo, Japan.

And the most interesting and innovative parts of the game, like when doodling, you sometimes use the controller to complete some QTE actions, which are masked by the incomplete gameplay. I really hope that the Tony Hawk skateboarding series will learn the lessons of Graffiti when it comes to HD.

Do not change the same thing, while keeping the original fans engaged, you have to introduce some reasonable new elements of the game to attract new players, and it must be improved.

    My rating is 6.5/10
