If you ask "who is the weirdest game publisher," then I believe many people would say Devolver. If we continue to ask "What is Devolver's most anticipated game of the year", I think many people will answer: "Revelation of Mie".

In fact, Roguelite adventure and simulation management are not very new types of games, and there have been works that combine these two elements before. However, with its cute and cult themes and art style, Revelation of Mie stands out from a group of games that share the same "dungeon+farming" gameplay, attracting the interest of many players.

Thank you for the invitation from Devolver Digital. We tried out the process from the beginning to eliminating the first boss in this game and also experienced some world map exploration content. Did the establishment of the Holy Sheep sect lead the way in unifying the world and liberating the ancient gods? Let's take a look together.


In the Book of Revelation, our protagonist, as the last member of the Sheep tribe, is saved by the ancient god "Awaiting the Crown" after being killed and sacrificed. From then on, the protagonist decided to form a holy religion, kill all the pagans in the world, and spread the gospel of "waiting to crown the Lord", with the ultimate goal of liberating our supreme and only true God from the seal.

In my opinion, the greatest charm of "Revelation of the bleeds" lies in its playful and relaxed aura of a cult: although it has just escaped the evil rituals of hostile sects and established its own home, the player himself is definitely not a pure and virtuous cult leader; Our so-called "holy religion" has nothing to do with legitimate religious organizations from top to bottom, just like a group of brainwashed lunatics.

Based on my current experience, there are two main ways for players to recruit Protestants: one is to break into the ritual scene of hostile sects and kill the priests thoroughly, so that they can confidently snatch the live offerings back home; The second is to beat the small bosses in each level to the point of begging for mercy, and then push them into the portal to take them home.

No matter which one you choose, the other person will believe in your doctrine based on the belief that "believing in any god is believing, and being taught to live and sacrifice is death.".

But if you're like me, thinking about gathering enough followers for a mahjong table and everything will be fine, then it's too naive. Our religious management route has only officially begun, although it may deviate slightly from what you imagine.

Influenced by many news and legends about "that religion," I thought I could play a domineering slave in "Revelation of the bleeds." All I needed to do was make brainwashing comments on a daily basis, regularly take disobedient rebels to labor reform or use them as pendants on street lamp posts. In the rest of the time, I could enjoy my glory and wealth.

But in reality, after getting started, I realized that it was like inviting a group of masters to my promised land, and I was the one who was enslaved. And although these guys look cartoonish and cute, they are all trash.

They do nothing but chop trees, dig stones, and pray to the gods and Buddha every day: the bed requires me to make a bed, the food requires me to do, the crops grow well and I harvest them myself. They don't know how to drive away when they see the seeds being pecked by birds... Even if someone eats, has diarrhea, and vomits all over the ground, they want me to personally sweep them. Even once when my church leader was using the restroom, a big brother stood next to me with his hands crossed, staring at him with a displeased expression. I was so angry that I turned my head and sacrificed him alive.

What's even more alarming is that these troublemakers often ask for tasks. Satisfying them will enhance their piety and mood, otherwise they may cause trouble.

Ordinary tasks usually only require me to pick flowers in the forest or sweep the ground in the village, but occasionally someone will ask for something inexplicable. For example, a kid told me that in order to prove his faith, he wanted to eat some dirty food, but he fell ill on the spot after eating it. He didn't work for two days, which caused the construction progress of our village to be seriously behind expectations. When he recovered from his illness, I thought this matter was over, but he said he wanted to eat the meat of other believers.

If you dare to refuse, turn your back

Based on the consistent principle of chaos and neutrality, I wanted to complete the tasks of all believers. But this guy suddenly said he wanted to eat people, and if he didn't give them food, he would take the lead in rebellion. He would criticize me for not doing anything in the village every day, which is really difficult to resist.

So I decisively slaughtered this guy who wanted to eat people, and then shared it with the whole village to eat - after all, killing another person for the sake of your piety may not be worth it, but killing you alone for the sake of the village's hunger saturation and my own reputation is worth it.

In addition, players can steal piety from the statues of opposing sects while exploring, and collect enemy corpses as fuel for their own bonfire party during battles... There is no good or evil in this game, only numerical values and benefits. This kind of setting, with a moral sense similar to that of "The Edge World," coupled with the cute art style of "Revelation of Mie," expresses a unique sense of humor and evil taste.

As mentioned at the beginning of the article, the trial version of Revelation Mie provides battle levels until defeating the first boss. This game has a solid feel and system: spells, weapons with various attributes, environmental damage, random maps and rewards... It is at the level of an ordinary independent roguelite game, with no special emphasis on content, and more inclined to add rhythm to the management and cultivation gameplay.

In addition, this trial game allowed us to glimpse a corner of the entire world map, which includes small games such as dice and fishing. It made me curious whether the official version will provide richer playable elements.
