Iron Wing Girl Game Report: The Suddenly Stopped Sky Story

After playing for about 3 hours, I was extremely shocked to receive the ending and production personnel list of "Iron Winged Girl", to the extent that I subconsciously suspected that I had triggered BE, or that the production team and Yoko Taro had learned bad things and played the trick of real ending for several weeks.

But unfortunately not.

Click the "Continue" button on the menu, and you will only receive the ending broadcast (if that can be called a broadcast) repeated over and over again. Check the trophy set of the game, all story trophies have been unlocked.

Beautiful girl+mecha aerial combat shooting, this should be a very charming and romantic combination. Specifically in the game, with its thin character design and monotonous shooting experience, how could it be made like this?


As the game title "Iron Wing Girl" highlights, this game tells the story of girls wearing "Iron Wings" to fight in the sky. The unknown enemy, the Void, suddenly attacked, and only the Iron Winged Girl dressed in the Hyde system could fight against it.

Two young girls - Clara is a newcomer to the army. She is outgoing, somewhat neurotic, and unable to conceal her thoughts; Erica is a lieutenant who has been in the military for a long time. She is quiet, thoughtful, and calm when things change. The fact that the two individuals initially opposed each other, then identified with each other and grew together can be said to be a very classic character and a very royal plot development.

It's clich é d, but from historical experience, it should be very useful.

But the problem lies in the speed at which the relationship between the two changes. It was a fleeting sight, and it was a regret to see each other too late. A four sentence dialogue can directly transition from "arguing endlessly" to the other party's "words and actions seem to be getting softer and softer", and soon the two have become comrades who can hand their backs over to each other.

The lack of emotional groundwork is a microcosm of the insufficient narrative of the entire game. The crisis of "human life and death" mentioned in the official plot description only exists in the setting, and I cannot feel it at all during the gameplay due to the lack of detailed portrayal.

The protagonists, who bear the burden of saving humanity, have not shown enough consciousness in the plot. Instead, they are constrained by the rapid progress of the story, which leads to continuous personality changes and affects the fullness of their own image.

And in the final two chapters of the foreshadowing, the plot is like a wild horse running wild on a disconnected train, then falling into an endless waterfall and letting gravity pull it down without friction and infinite acceleration The key information was not explained clearly, and the final mystery was vaguely conveyed. The various foreshadowings buried before, like black clouds pressing down on the city, were casually recalled in subsequent developments.

So when I came up with the ending, I looked surprised. I thought this was just the first ray of dawn breaking through the dark clouds, and I never imagined that this sky would forever freeze at this moment (unless it comes out of DLC in the future).

Is that pretty girl good-looking?

It looks good.

Unfortunately, the game uses "beautiful 3D painting", commonly known as PPT cutscenes, to advance the development of the story. Through the sliding and shaking of the camera, exquisite images and characters can indeed make up for the shortcomings of the performance to some extent, but there is also a small problem at this point: the frame rate of this PPT broadcast is not enough.


Iron Wing Girl is a 3D high-speed shooting game, and before its release, many players may have some expectations for the aerial combat part of the game. So how is this part done& nbsp;

It's quite decent - at least if someone around you comes to watch you play this game, they won't think there's any major problem at first glance.

The production team wants to incorporate a simple and easy to use air combat system into the game, and it does indeed achieve:

Unlimited weapons and ammunition, completely eliminating volume collisions, and after unlocking, there is basically no need to worry about not shooting enemies; The jet device that allows players to fly quickly, although it has consumption slots, recovers incredibly quickly and can almost sprint throughout the entire journey.

Machine guns, combat rifles, tracking missiles, laser guns There are all the necessary weapons, and there are a total of three equipment slots on the Iron Wing. Before starting the mission, players can freely customize their combat equipment.

When I first got started, it was quite enjoyable, but the novelty quickly decreased with repeated battles. At the beginning of the game, there are ten weapons to choose from, but by the end, there are still only ten, without any growth, and the poor diversity may have been exhausted in the third/fourth battle.

Although weapon design distinguishes between close range, single guidance, and cluster attacks, level design does not apply these differences well. Choose three weapons and equipment randomly, and switch to three more next time, so the mission experience will not be much worse& nbsp;

In addition, the types of enemies are not diverse enough, basically just ordinary minions and their "HP+/SPEED+" upgraded versions as well as further upgraded versions. The process of each task is roughly the same: 5 enemy planes attacking → 10 enemy planes attacking → 15 enemy planes attacking After getting tired of playing with these types of weapons, the battle will appear unusually monotonous.


Overall, Iron Wing Girl is a small volume work. It portrays two young girls in war, but due to space limitations, the character lacks sufficient writing, and the aerial combat part, while simple and straightforward, unfortunately falls into the dilemma of repetition and monotony.

However, if you want to exercise your dynamic vision or experience rapid eye fatigue, perhaps you can try Iron Wing Girl.
