Xbox360 "Red Dead Redemption" "Undead nightmare" DLC review

In the eerie narration, John Marston rides his horse back to the protagonist's sleepy ranch in the silent rainy night, and the "undead nightmare" begins. Until Red Dead Redemption's memorable finale, the ex-outlaw was relatively quiet. But it was not such a peaceful scene at home. But my own farm is not so peaceful. Thanks to an outbreak of zombie plague, Marston and his crew are back in the game.

Clint Eastwood had aged like a zombie, and John realized he was the only cowboy who could clean up the mess. He must go deep into Blackwater City and find a cure for the disease. Now, instead of wandering aimlessly as they used to, the town's residents have found new jobs: these infected people storm buildings and rip the throats of the living. What's worse, these damn things can only be disposed of by burning them or blowing their heads off, which is enough to drive a clumsy shooter like me to despair, and ammunition is getting tight.

Ultimately, in almost all zombie-related productions, the shotgun is a good choice for "blowing" the zombie's head off. Annoyingly, the most effective "zombie guacamole maker" (this name is patent-pending...) It can't be used until the second half of the story (it's a horn gun that uses bits of zombies as ammunition). Just imagine...) . Slightly strong firepower, is definitely the story of the early players in the face of the "zombie horse" of ammunition, the first choice to escape and cover.

The "Undead nightmare" emphasizes "survival", and I prefer to approach the target quietly and stealthily than to fight with monsters vigorously. For a third-person action game from Rockstar, this is an unexpected approach. However, after careful observation and careful thinking, the route decided is very different from the previous game of "rushing in to raise a gun and hit a gas".

While the action is well done, the overall tone of the game's five-hour storyline is somewhere between Shaun of the Dead's lighthearted zombie-killing journey and the Walking Dead's harsher post-zombie apocalypse, which is somewhat tepid and awkward. The monsters don't bite the people around them in their natural way, and the story raises ethical dilemmas about how to deal with infected loved ones. However, the story is forced to include some of the social issues of today (such as immigration, taxes, and racism), but these elements seem too deliberate, too clumsy, and too weak to be considered a humorous satire on the real problems of America, as experienced game developers like Rockstar do. Sorry, but putting "Everything has changed" and "Invasion of Mexico" on the exterior of a bar doesn't strike me as sly social commentary or clever satire.

Perhaps the biggest thing I agree with about Undead Nightmare is that it completely changes the way Red Dead Redemption is played in a dramatic and fun way. Although the additional multiplayer modes seem neither new nor interesting (" King of the Hill "and" Horde "modes? Are you kidding? However, "Undead Nightmare" managed to make some changes to the original single-player mode while maintaining the original features of the game, which set a good example for other games' DLC.

Similarly, whether abused or not, the presence of zombies is always good. Man, you got to kill them.
